Review:
Packaging: The packaging for the CD is on some counts quite good, and on others
quite bad. First the track list is entirely in Japanese so you'll have to jump
online to know what track you're listening to. However, the Booklet and back
cover feature many excellent color pictures of the characters from the game,
including a few good ones of Roll. The CD itself sports a picture of the
save monkey from the game, but aside from that, the CD had no other extras.
If the track list had been in English I could have bumped the rating up to
a "B" but as it stands, we're clearly in "C" territory.
Packaging Rating: C+

Music: Everyone expects good things from Capcom soundtracks, especially those
from the Megaman franchise. Unfortunately, the type of game that Megaman
Legends is works against its soundtrack. The tense background music from
the various dungeons is not the kind of thing you want to listen to while driving
late at night, or in a traffic jam, or even at work. It angries up the blood.
Still, there are a number of fantastic tracks on the CD. The into and ending
tracks, Another Sun and Your Wind is Blowing are J-Pop songs from
the Japanese version of the game, and are fun to listen to if J-Pop's your thing.
Many of the background tracks are also good; The Flutter vs. the Geshell
Shaft!, Flocke Wolf!, and The Main Gate are all the kind of
tracks you would expect on a Megaman soundtrack. If a few strange ambient tracks
were the only problem with this CD, it would end with a good rating.
Music Rating: B-
CD/Track Length: 70 minute CD. 40 minute tracks. Do the math, that's less than
2 minutes a track on average, which gets annoying. The sad thing is that most
of the themes cycle twice and are still only 1 minute 30 seconds. The
songs fly by and before you know it, you've missed half the CD. Adding a third
repetition to most of the songs would have really helped this CD out.
Length Rating: D
Other Misc: Nothing else to report about this CD, it fits the "C"
classification to a T. If you liked the music in the game, pick it up,
otherwise spend your money on something else.
Final Rating (not an average): C
