Review:
Jet Set Radio is the kind of sound track that I do my show for. I've often said that video game music is the equal of much of the music out there in the mainstream, and this is one of the sound tracks that proves it. The game the soundtrack comes from is excellent in its own right, combining innovative gameplay with excellent graphics. Just like the other parts of the game, the sound track is par none. Any Dreamcast owner who doesn't own this game should definitely look into getting it.

The musical style for the JSR sound track is a combination of Funk, with lots of bass, and Techno, for a handful of the higher energy songs. Since this is the Japanese release of the sound track, the licensed music in the American version isn't on the CD (and I think it shouldn't have been in the game at all). Every single music track on the CD (the last 3 are 5-10 second bits from the game) is well done and easy to grove to. I whole heartedly recommend this CD to anyone looking for a good video game soundtrack, because many people who have never played Jet Grind Radio have complimented me on its exceptional quality.

My favorite track on this CD is number five, Sneakman. It's a solid combination of Drums, Bass, Slap Bass, Trumpet, and other miscellaneous instruments. This song unseated Battle with Gilgamesh as my favorite song from a game. That is the highest honor I can give any individual song, and the rest of the tracks on the CD are almost at the same level as Sneakman is. I'm proud to give this sound track the first "A" rating handed out in my reviews section.

Final Rating: A
